That way, when we switch to a romantic slow song, I can auto switch the DMX lights to a BLUE present. I use a MIDI foot control to switch between patches?songs, and to activate or deactivate different guitar effects while inside of a patch.ġa), When I select different patches in MS, I want the patch to select bank and presets in DMXIS. I have all 60 songs set up in MS as patches within a concert, all with different guitar effects loaded, We have 60 songs on our play list, some slow, some fast, some bluesy, some rock, etc. I've read threads which are somewhat related, but have not found my specific setup question. (and i like the color coded feedback buttons). Can someone please advise how I need to do this? Still, I'm liking the GiO because its so easy and simple to work with. Most recently, I tried the FC300 (Roland) and the SoftStep (Keith McMillan). The good news is that I've used several foot controllers and they all seem to work well. If you want stereo, you might want to use something like a Duet 2 and a SoftStep. That said, if you plan to sing into a mic and process that with MainStage, the GiO may not be the best choice since it only has a single mono input. If you use Loopback (MainStage's Looper) or Playback (backing track player plug-in), the GiO is great since it has dedicated buttons for transport. Every patch in MainStage can, if you want, reconfigure what the buttons on the GiO are controlling and what color they display. So, for example, if Chorus is always blue, you know when you look down, where the chorus is. You can change the colors of the lower row of buttons on the GiO to match the pedals they control. I think going with something that has dozens of buttons and pedals just means you'll be doing river dance. When you switch patches, you get to decide what the 10 buttons are going to do. It does not do bi-directional MIDI communication. It does not do audio at all, so you'd need an audio interface too. GiO has some 'automatic configuration' with Logic, MS and Garagebandīehringer is a very flexible MIDI controller, but does not have a USB connection, so you'd need a MIDI interface. Input Level controls (GiO in software only)Įxpression Pedal, plus sockets for 2 additional switches/pedals) (GiO has a socket for 1 pedal)įully configurable MIDI spec via separate software, (GiO hard-coded?)Ĭompact and built like a tank compared to the GiO USB2, supports up to 24 bit 192kHz Sample rates (GiO only 44.1/48)įull LED input/Output metering (GiO has none) Separate Headphone out (GiO is combined with main OP) Rig Kontrol has two separate line/instrument inputs (GiO has 1)Ģ Hi/Lo outputs (GiO) has a single TRS output so you need a splitter cable to run in stereo) That may make a difference.ĩ Switches (8 with bi-directional LED) (GiO has 12, with 10 bi-directional, multi-coloured LEDs) I don't know anything about NI's Guitar Rig Kontrol, but a quick glance shows it has only 9 buttons - 3 less than the GiO (and I think the Behringer). It is sooooo much easier to have a few presets ready to go without doing a 'riverdance.' I recommend that you save your self the trouble and get a modeling pedal for your guitar sounds. I hope the above is understandable, at the moment my ideas are rather hypothetical. are there any differences between the fcb1010 and the gio in terms of assigning midi functions? The only demos I've seen of the gio just show it controlling the stomp boxes in mainstage I also want to use the foot control to select between completely different sounds/patches/channel strips.Īlso if I want to use two amplifiers live in order to use stereo effects, would I be able to take a left and right output from the apogee one or gio? Or would I need a duet? The gio is a footcontroller and an interface so seems to be perfect, however it doesn't come with an expression pedal, and has less assignable controls than the fcb1010. However I would then need an external midi foot controller like the behringer fcb1010 to control mainstage. The Apogee one looks interesting because of the price and because it is designed to run a guitar into mainstage and back out into an amp. I've been looking at the apogee one, duet and gio and need some advice as to which (if any) would suit my needs.Īs I will be gigging this setup it needs to be reliable, functional and with as little latency as possible (I run a 2.4GHz Intel core 2 duo macbook pro with 4gb memory) I want to create unique guitar sounds on logic, one channel strip for each sound, and be able to use them live using mainstage routed into my valve amp. I am new to mainstage but have been using logic for some time.
